Text Summarizer

Paste an article, a report or long notes, and get the sentences that carry the most meaning. This is an extractive summarizer: it selects the original sentences, it does not invent new ones — and it runs entirely in your browser.

Learn: how to use this well

  1. Start at 30%. That is usually enough to keep the argument and drop the filler. Go shorter only when you already know the topic.
  2. Read the summary, then skim the original. A summary is a map, not the territory — check the parts it skipped before you quote anything.
  3. Use it for triage, not for learning. Summaries are perfect for deciding what deserves a full read. They are a poor replacement for reading what matters.
  4. For study notes, summarize twice. Once at 50% to learn the structure, once at 20% to test what you remember.
  5. Never submit a summary as your own writing. Summarized text is still the original author's work — credit the source.

Pro tips

Frequently asked questions

How does this summarizer work?

It scores every sentence by how often its meaningful words appear in the whole text, then keeps the highest-scoring sentences in their original order. It never rewrites or invents sentences.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The whole process runs in your browser. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

Why is the summary sometimes uneven?

Because it keeps original sentences. If the original jumps between topics, the summary will too — that reflects the source, not a bug.

Can I summarize a PDF?

Copy the text out of the PDF first, then paste it here. This tool works on text, not on files.

Earn: how this skill pays

Reading load is a real business problem: managers, students and researchers all pay to have long material turned into short briefs. Summarizing is a freelance service (research briefs, meeting briefs, article digests), and it is also a daily productivity skill that makes every other service faster. A premium version for long documents is planned for the store; the free tool above handles everyday lengths today.
